The property tax in the Borough is 40.75 mills which consists of 29 = General Services, 5.5 = Debt Service, 2.0 = Fire Dept., 2.0 = Street Lights, .75 = Library and 1.5 mills = Recreation Maintenance.

The assessed values of properties in Allegheny County are actually determined by Washington County and are different than the assessment used to determine county tax. Any appeals for the borough assessment should be directed to the Washington County Assessment Office (724-228-6850). Please also advise Washington County of any changes to the property such as improvements, parcel consolidations, name changes, billing address changes, or ownership transfers, so that the records can be updated accordingly. Failure to do so may result in your not receiving your tax bill.

The lien date for unpaid property taxes is December 31, 2011 - no payments can be made after the lien date. The Washington County Tax Claim Bureau administers liens for properties in Washington County. Properties in Allegheny County are administered by Jordan Tax Service (412-835-5243). All liens are final and payments must be made to the appropriate delinquent tax collector. The local tax collector cannot collect any delinquent taxes.

The Earned Income tax is 1% of your total wages of which .5% goes directly to Fort Cherry School District and .5% remains in the Borough. The Fort Cherry School District .5% is paid to Keystone Municipal Collections, 118 Wendel Road, Irwin, PA 15642. Their phone number is (724) 978-0300.

 

Per Capita tax is $5.00 per resident if over the age of 18 and not a full time student.
